romanticLooking for a date restaurant during your Bangkok trip? While it may be known as a city of sin the capital of Thailand has no shortage of romantic hideaways and intimate diners perfect for wooing a new lover or rekindling an old flame.

Here are some of our favourite date restaurants in Bangkok:

aldos bangkokAldo’s Bangkok

A rather slick, minimalist dining room, Aldo’s Mediterranean Bistro and Wine Bar is a swanky affair, with a choice of comfy indoor seating or cool alfresco dining poolside. Not only this but the menu is perhaps the best collection of true Mediterranean dishes in town, including lots of fresh salads, fruit, and colourful seafood plates to choose from.

For a true romantic experience book a private gazebo out by the pool which is attractively lit up afterdark, and make sure to fully indulge in the rich dessert menu.

Aldo’s can be found at The Ascott Sathorn on South Sathorn Road. Tel: +66 (0)2 676 6982

Rang Mahal bangokRang Mahal Fine Dining

Set high up on top of the plush Rembrandt Hotel, the Rang Mahal is a taste of royal India, and a chance to dine like a foreign dignitary in this gourmet Indian restaurant.

Found near the Asoke BTS, this is Indian dining at its finest, with classic and exotic Moghul dishes served in the grand dining room, to a backdrop of stunning city views, live bands, and a truly romantic ambience. Tel +66 (0)2 261 7100

Al Majlis BangkokAl Majlis Bangkok

For a rather laid back romantic experience, Al Majlis is a tearoom and restaurant with lots of North African influence. Choose between the somewhat exotic indoor dining room, or eat under the stars in the cosy garden terrace, with super soft seating, surrounded by lots of sprawling greenery, and lit by lots of romantic hanging lanterns.

Choose from a menu of tasty Arabic dishes, including lots of flavoured teas and sheesha. Al Majlis is located in Ekamai Soi 12. Tel: +66 (0)2 392 2345

blue velvet bangkokBlue Velvet

One of Thonglor’s many romantic eateries, Blue Velvet is perhaps the most memorable, with a kind of surreal post modern medieval vibe, and a contrasting menu of Thai, Western and Japanese fusion dishes.

Not only is this a funky, romantic restaurant and a great place to get the conversation flowing, but the highlight of the menu is an impressive drinks list, including lots of fun and tasty cocktails.

Blue Velvet can be found in Thonglor soi 5. Tel +66 (0)2 392 1769

NestThe Nest Bangkok

Bangkok rooftop dining doesn’t have to be ridiculously expensive in order to be impressive, and The Nest set up top of the Le Fenix hotel proves just that. This is a rather chic and chilled rooftop spot, with a well balanced mix of cool, trendy, and intimate, including lots of lounge and reclined seating for those looking to snuggle.

The menu is a mix of Thai and Western, with lots of cocktails to help get you both in the mood for a night out on the buzzing bars and clubs of Soi 11, down below. Not only are you given attractive views of the surrounding cosmopolitan neighbourhood, but the house DJ will serve up lots of chilled clubbing beats.

The Nest is located at the bottom of Sukhumvit soi 11, at Le Fenix, opposite Q Bar. Tel: +66 (0) 26 54 6935
