flow house bangkokEver wanted to learn how to surf? Well you don’t have to hit the highway and head to Hua Hin for your nearest Surf lesson, nor do you need to pray on good waves to catch a break, you can now just stroll up Sukhumvit road to soi 26, and to Flow House at the A-Square community mall.

flow riderWhat is Flow House?

Flow House is all about bringing surfing to the city through the use of Flow Rider, an artificial wave machine. But much more than that, this is an inner city beach club and fun hangout spot, aimed at all age groups and skill levels (as well as for those who just want to chill out and watch).

Flowriding is basically an amalgamation of surfing and wakeboarding which takes place on an inflatable ramp (Flow Rider). The flowrider works by way of a thin sheet of water which constantly pumped up and over the ramp simulating a perpetual breaking wave.

The experience is available to all skill levels, from complete beginners to seasoned professionals, with lessons and classes available to newbies.

Hour-long group sessions cost 550 THB per person (650 THB after 18:00 or on weekends), and it’s a great way to socialize and meet new people, as well as show off your board skills (or learn new ones). Many newcomers may worry about embarrassing themselves but the occasion is all about camaraderie and support, with all beginners given lots of patience and vocal encouragement from both the staff and fellow surfers.

It’s danger free with falling likened to falling off a mechanical bull or on a bouncy castle. It’s also a great spectator activity for those just wishing to watch, chill out, and enjoy the bar with fellow surf fans.

There’s also a tasty menu of burgers and hotdogs for those with the munchies.

You can find Flow House at the A-Square community mall, opposite K-Village, on Sukhumvhit 26. Close to the junction with Rama 4 road. Tel +66 (0)8 6994 1114
